In the newest installment of the Nintendo handheld, the DSi improves upon the original DS by adding a camera, internet browser, a memory card slot for transporting photographs, and the capability of downloading new games through Nintendo’s Wi-Fi service. Many DSi accessories are compatible with both the DS and DSi, but there are some new goodies that are needed to fully enjoy your DSi.One of the newly needed DSi accessories is a photo memory card, available at most retail and electronics stores. While it is possible to play with your photos on the DSi, it turns into a viable digital camera when the pictures become portable with the memory card. However, the DSi does have just a 0.3 megapixel camera, so while the pictures look fine on the DSi, they may not look as great on your computer.For taking your DSi on the road, a car charger and set of headphones is a must. The DSi comes with some DSi accessories, such as a wall charger and stylus, but a car charger is a necessity for those long road trips with your DSi for company. You can also play the DSi while it is charging, so you can game for endless hours on the road. The charger plugs right into a car’s cigarette lighter outlet and will plug into the same outlet as the wall charger. The DSi does boast good audio output, but to really hear the subtle nuances of the music and to allow others in the car with you to listen to their own chosen music, a set of headphones is really the best choice.Last are some spare styli and screen covers. Since most games for the DSi rely heavily on the stylus for game play, the screens will get scratched over time. Screen protectors are fairly cheap DSi accessories and will protect the screen of your DSi very well. The DSi also features a slot on the side to store one stylus, but if that one is lost or broken, you must have another in order to play most of the games on the DSi.Some stores offer combination packs of different DSi accessories, and will include several of the items that you might need. Other items that are helpful to have are a protective case, cases for the games themselves, and cleaning cloths for the screens. These DSi accessories come in almost any color and pattern imaginable, so you are sure to find something to suit your electronic style.
